IND vs ENG 3rd ODI: Rishabh Pant’s Ton Guide IND to Series Win of 2-1

Rishabh Pant’s Heroics with bat and Hardik Pandya’s all-round performance secured final and series decider in India’s favor. The five-wicket win also led India to a historic ODI Series win, its first-ever on english soil post 2014.

India skipper Rohit Sharma won toss for a third time in a row and elected to bowl first at old trafford, Manchester.

Mohammad Siraj who was included in place of Jasprit Bumrah for third ODI struck England innings hard in his first over. Siraj dismissed both Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root on duck. After a dull start Jason Roy carried English innings ahead. After 45.5 overs, England innings got bowled out for 259 runs. For England, skipper Jos Butler 60(80), Jason Roy 41(31) and Moeen Ali 34(44) made crucial contributions with the bat.

Chasing 260, Indian inning had a forgettable start, losing batting trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli too early. After Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya led the fight for chase. The two batters made a deciding partnership of 133 runs for fifth wicket before losing Pandya’s 71(55) wicket. Later, Pant took the charge and carried out successful chase with help of his brilliant maiden ton 125*(113). Indian team won the match with five wickets, chasing down the total in 42.1 overs with 47 balls left.

With this win, Indian team also claimed the three-match ODI series 2-1.

Rishabh Pant was named Man of the Match for his superb performance with the bat while Hardik Pandya bagged Man of the Series award for his all-round performance.
